About This Service
Passivation is a chemical treatment process that removes free iron and other surface contaminants from stainless steel, allowing the natural chromium oxide passive layer to reform and strengthen. The result is a cleaner, more corrosion-resistant surface that performs better across a wide range of operating environments.
Pure Source performs passivation for a wide range of components, from small machined parts to large process vessels and piping systems. We offer both shop-based and on-site field service, giving you flexibility based on the size and sensitivity of your equipment.
We can perform passivation to most customer and industry specifications. Our most commonly referenced standards include ASTM A967 and ASTM A380, but if your project requires a different spec, a customer-specific procedure, or a combination of requirements, contact us and we will work to meet it.
